The Human Values 4 Kids Foundation, in partnership with the U.S.-Fiji Chamber of Commerce, proudly presents the exclusive U.S. Premiere of the groundbreaking documentary, "Girmit: The Fields of Sadness," in Sacramento, California.
Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Shyam Upadhyay and based on the book "Tears in Paradise" by Rajendra Prasad, this powerful documentary chronicles the experiences of indentured laborers from India who were transported to Fiji between 1879 and 1920, combining historical documentation with emotional storytelling.
It is a must-see for the U.S.-Fiji diaspora, offering a vital opportunity for both those born in Fiji and those born in the U.S. to connect with and appreciate their shared history.
Join us to honor and understand the history of the Girmitiyas while supporting the future of Fiji. Net proceeds from this special premiere will be donated to the Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Children's Hospital Fiji, which provides free pediatric cardiac care for children born with congenital heart disease.
